Webinar Recap: Leadership Communication: Communicating Effectively Across Cultures

On Tuesday, 7 April 2026, we had the pleasure of hosting an insightful webinar  on Leadership Communication: Communicating Effectively Across Cultures.

More than 70 ICS members and shipping professionals attended the webinar who explored:

• How culture shapes perception, thinking, and behaviour
• Why cross-cultural communication breaks down — and practical ways leaders can prevent it
• Tools to communicate clearly and confidently in global teams
• How to navigate feedback, disagreement, and decision-making across cultures

In an industry defined by international collaboration, communication is not simply about exchanging information. It is about ensuring meaning is correctly understood across different cultural contexts. In global shipping, where teams operate across borders, time zones, and diverse business environments, even small misunderstandings can have significant operational and commercial implications.

This 1.5-hour workshop focused on equipping participants with the tools and awareness of how to build trust, avoid misinterpretation, and lead more effectively in diverse environments.
