Mr. Leonidas Dimitriades – Eugenides inspires ICS Students with insights on the IMO and the Shipping Industry

We were honored to welcome Mr. Leonidas Dimitriades-Eugenides, President of Eugenides Foundation, esteemed IMO Ambassador and Honorary Member of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers, to the Hellenic Management Centre on October 21st. As part of the ICS Professional Maritime Programme, Mr. Eugenides delivered an engaging talk to students currently enrolled in the Shipping Business module, sharing his insights on the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and its significant role in the global shipping industry.

During his 20-30 minute presentation, Mr. Dimitriades-Eugenides discussed the IMO’s responsibilities in setting safety, environmental, and regulatory standards for the maritime sector. His talk also covered the broader impact of international shipping organizations on the industry and the challenges faced in today’s dynamic environment. Drawing from his extensive experience in the shipping sector, Mr. Dimitriades-Eugenide provided practical advice and shared stories that inspired students to pursue their careers with a deeper understanding of the industry’s complexities.

The students found the session invaluable, as it gave them a clearer perspective on the role of international bodies like the IMO and the importance of adhering to global standards in maritime operations.
