We were delighted to host our first webinar of Series 4 on Wednesday 16 September 2020, on the topic “How the Digital Revolution is Affecting Shipping Markets; What’s in Store”.

This time 2 sessions ran worldwide: one lecture for Asia – Pacific region and one lecture for EMEA – Americas region, enabling the ICS and Baltic Members, from all over the world, to keep up with the latest developments in digital revolution in shipping!

The Webinar for the EMEA – Americas region was presented by two experts from The Signal Group, Ms Semiramis Assimakopoulou, VP of Sales and Mr Ioannis Psarros, VP Commercial Operations.

Both speakers discussed on different aspects of digital revolution, how shipping industry is affected across markets and how tech evolution gives advantage to the forerunners of the industry. Attendees found the webinar extremely informative and were able to get an insight into new developments from leading maritime experts.

About the series

The Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers and the Baltic Exchange organize these series of lectures for the fourth year; intended to support and develop those working in the shipping industry and encourage better advocacy across the future generation of industry leaders.

We are incredibly proud that this series has now reached the fourth cycle and both organisations are keen to continue with this project and work further together.

The Baltic Exchange is the world’s only independent source of maritime market information for the trading and settlement of physical and derivative contracts. Its international community of over 600 members encompasses the majority of world shipping interests and commits to a code of business conduct overseen by the Baltic.

The Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers, founded in 1911 within the Baltic Exchange historical building, is the professional body which represents all shipping professionals. Through its Professional Maritime Courses and ICS Membership Qualification, ICS is dedicated to the setting and maintenance of the highest standards in commercial shipping industry worldwide.

Baltic Exchange and ICS are sister organisations and work under the common motto “Our Word, our Bond’’; a business ethic motto imparts confidence into the industry worldwide. Joint lectures and events prove their long-standing and traditional relation dated back in the middle ages of Maritime Profession at the City of London
