Effective performance management is fundamental to organisational success, enabling managers to maximise individual potential while ensuring teams remain aligned with strategic objectives. This practical unit provides participants with the knowledge, skills and tools required to manage performance confidently, foster employee engagement and drive continuous improvement.

Participants will explore the principles of performance management and examine how effective performance systems contribute to organisational effectiveness and business success. The programme introduces practical techniques for setting clear objectives, establishing meaningful performance measures and monitoring progress against agreed goals.

Learners will develop the skills required to deliver constructive feedback, conduct effective performance reviews and hold meaningful performance conversations that motivate employees and support their professional development. Particular emphasis is placed on creating a culture of accountability, continuous feedback and high performance.

The unit also explores practical approaches to recognising and rewarding excellent performance while addressing underperformance fairly, consistently and professionally. Managers will examine how coaching, development planning and supportive leadership can improve individual capability and strengthen overall team performance.

By the end of the programme, participants will have developed the confidence and practical skills to manage performance effectively, enhance employee engagement and contribute to sustainable organisational success.
