The Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers (ICS) Greek Branch and Clarksons Hellas, successfully concluded the first Clarksons x ICS Greek Branch – Shipping Training Week, marking the launch of a new joint educational initiative dedicated to supporting the development of the next generation of shipping professionals.
Held from 22 to 26 June 2026 at the premises of Clarksons Hellas, the programme provided participants with a practical introduction to the dry bulk shipping market and the wider commercial shipping environment, combining classroom learning with direct industry exposure.
Throughout the week, participants explored the fundamentals of dry bulk shipping, shipbroking and chartering, while also gaining valuable insights into key commercial areas, including Sale & Purchase, Shipping Finance and Shipping Derivatives. The programme was delivered by a distinguished group of industry experts and ICS tutors, including David O’Sullivan FICS, Sotiris Zois, Alex Bougioukos, Katerina Stathopoulou FICS, Konstantinos Kofopoulos, Konstantinos Theodoropoulos, Amalia Miliou-Theocharaki FICS, Georgina Spentzou and Andrew Colokythas, who shared their expertise and practical insights across a broad range of commercial shipping topics.
Through interactive lectures, market discussions and practical case studies, participants gained valuable commercial shipping knowledge while developing essential professional skills, including communication, collaboration and personal branding.
A key feature of the Shipping Training Week was the opportunity for participants to experience the industry first-hand through a series of company visits. The group visited Angelicoussis Group, where they were introduced to the Group’s structure, commercial activities and training centre. Participants also had the opportunity to visit an Ultramax dry bulk vessel managed by Niovis Shipping at the TITAN Cement Plant, where the Master and senior officers welcomed them on board and provided an insightful tour of the vessel’s operations. These visits offered participants a valuable perspective on both shore-based and onboard aspects of commercial shipping.
