Insightful Lecture on Geopolitical Challenges Engages Members and Students

On October 9, 2024, Members and students gathered at the ICS Greek Branch for an insightful lecture led by Mr. Punit Oza, President of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers. The session titled “Reading Between the Lines: Managing and Profiting from Geopolitical Challenges” delved into the intricate relationships between topography, political influence, and global trade flows.

Mr. Oza, a seasoned expert with over 30 years of experience in Dry Bulk Shipping, addressed critical questions, including the effects of sifting global supply chains and the implications of trade disruptions on shipping. He also shared strategies into navigating geopolitical risks and identifying opportunities to strengthen resilience in international trade. Attendees engaged in meaningful discussions, gaining valuable insights into the ever-changing landscape of international trade.

Mr. Punit Oza is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers and is the current President of the Institute. He is also the Founder of Maritime NXT in Singapore and lectures on geopolitical risks and their impact on shipping and trade flows at prestigious institutions worldwide. Mr. Oza has held senior management positions in leading shipping companies throughout his extensive career.
