“Human Resources in the Shipping Industry: Redefining Skills for the future” | ICS Conference, Posidonia 2022

The Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers Greek Branch organized a conference session “Human Resources in the Shipping Industry: Redefining Skills for the future”, in the frame of Posidonia 2022.

On Tuesday, 7th of June, distinguished executives of the shipping industry shared their insights into the future of shipping and evolve on the changes in the talent needed by shipping companies. Many young students, graduates and junior professionals who sought to learn more for the roles and skills of tomorrow attended the Conference. All speakers highlighted the importance of the shipping industry for the Greek economy and for the creation of many new jobs and career opportunities to thousands of young people.

The session focused on the trending topic of soft skills for maritime professionals, especially in the era of digitalization and sustainable development. Such skills and competences can make a candidate distinguish among professionals and can become the critical factor for finding a job in the shipping industry.

ICS Greek branch acknowledged the support of Greek shipping companies for the continuous education of its workforce and emphasized the role of the ICS Professional Maritime Programme in enhancing the professional identity of young candidates and integrating them into the shipping community.
