ICS Hosts NKUA Undergraduate Students for Educational Visit

On Friday, 20 March, we had the pleasure of welcoming undergraduate students from the Port Management and Shipping programme of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), accompanied by their professor, Mr Boviatsis, to our premises.

During their visit, students were introduced to the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers, gaining valuable insights into the Institute’s role within the global maritime industry, as well as the ICS professional qualifications and the benefits of ICS membership for their future careers.

The visit also included a two-hour lecture on Ship Sale & Purchase practice, delivered by Simon Ward, FICS, ICS tutor and S&P Director at Ursa Shipbrokers. The session provided students with a practical introduction to the fundamentals of the sale and purchase market, offering real-world perspectives on how transactions are structured and executed within the shipping industry.

Initiatives such as this play a key role in bridging academic learning with industry practice, giving students early exposure to the realities of the maritime sector and supporting their professional development.

We would like to thank Professor Boviatsis and all students for their enthusiasm and participation, and we look forward to continuing our collaboration with NKUA and supporting the next generation of shipping professionals.
